transgender individuals have attempted suicide. Seems to me that affirming such a delusion is a horrific idea. The compassionate approach is to try and help such a person return to reality mentally and emotionally. I don't know how that is or can be done.

My post was specifically directed at "transgenders". However, it seems obvious that any delusion that interferes with a normal healthy lifestyle cannot be good and will likely end badly.
