Johnson w. RBI bloop single.
the pen. Their starter, Thompson, was excellent but he's relieved by sidearmer, Ege, who is solid too. Jagielo up, T8.
closer K'd Kutsulis & Richards to end threat. 97 MPH fastball for Nick Burdi.
frozen at plate for called strike 3 to end T9 with johnson on first.
and 1 out, fly ball to Hudgins and he doesn't catch it but runner missed second and we forced him out but apparently not enough outs before winning run scored. I'd like to know more but it sounds like if Mac caught it we might have escaped 9th.
In any case, we stranded a bunch of runners (too common a situation for us) and if we don't figure out how to get production out of more of our lineup, we could be limited offensively come playoff time.
However, from what I heard tonight, great effort, Irish.
..that ball was hit very well and Hudgins was lucky to get a glove on it as it sailed over his head.
Adam Norton pitched one hell of a game. ND had tons of men in scoring position but could not get a few timely hits.
Jagielo was thrown out at the plate, ND had two guys strike out on wicked sliders from Louisville's closer with Mancini on third, etc...
It was a good, close game between two good teams but damn, ND had their shots to win it.
