She just finished her freshman year at San Marcos High School, in North San Diego County. She was selected to the All CIF second team, as a pitcher, which is a remarkable feat. She was also selected Pitcher of the Year in her league, which is top competition. Her name is Payton Tidd.

My wife actually coached Katie during middle school and has nothing but wonderful things to say about her. Tremendous athlete, intelligent, great kid, etc. - the complete package and a perfect fit for ND.

It's an article on her. Remember that she just finished her freshman year in high school.

Good aticle.

She is rated the 28th player in her class by "FLO Softball" (whatever that is), and here's the blurb they have on her. (This was up prior to her verbal commitment to the Irish):

Payton is the ace on the preseason No. 1 ranked 14U team in the country and she flat-out knows how to win. She pitched a one-hit shutout to win the PGF 12U Nationals in 2013 and led the A's to a 7th place finish at the 14U level last summer. Payton is a workhorse and a warrior who always keeps her team in the game and not just with her arm--she has become an outstanding 3 hole hitter too. The freshman throws a screw, curve, rise and inside drop with her change and drop curve being her standout pitches. She has visited SEC and Pac-12 schools primarily and does have offers but is keeping her options open for now.
