'Mr. Swarbrick, tear out this carpet!' OK, two conditions. 'Mr. Swarbrick, you're Notre Dame, damn it; you don't need no stupid, piped-in music either. And I'm the guy to show you the way out of your inane obsession with a back-stabbing, politically correct, decided schematic advantage, and blow chunks approach to football.'
Savvy's too invested in Kelly to turn this self-inflicted Titanic of a program headed the wrong way in the North Atlantic with a 20-year head start to even entertain the idea of bringing in a back-to-basics, gimmicks eschewer, no-nonsense coach without all the glitz and glamour baggage that Kelly brought with him to even entertain the notion of negotiating with someone even remotely bearing the intensity and ego of a demonstrably-successful coach like Jim Harbaugh.
It would be nice, mkovac, but it ain't going to happen. Not here, not now. Harbaugh wants to be the highest paid coach anywhere, and it sure as hell isn't going to happen on Savvy's watch. The sad thing is I think it would be a bargain for us and a boon to our legacy, given Harbaugh's intensity and devotion to the fundamentals of football.
The continuation of our Bataan Death March to the Music City Bowl over the next ten days is our self-inflicted fate. That and improving the Gameday Experience in all things short of actual football.
