has accomplished more at Notre Dame than he ever accomplished elsewhere, before or after.

So while there is much to be said for the kind of resume that projects best at Notre Dame, it's still a matter of the "ideal" candidate coming to Notre Dame and accomplishing something he'd never accomplished previously.

(Obviously, that wouldn't be the case for Saban, Stoops or Meyer -- and I certainly don't mean to rule those guys out.)

But we've never had a great head coach who "simply" came to Notre Dame and replicated what he had done elsewhere.
