I know it's not an option, but pro athletes seem to come back awfully early and strong from traumatic injuries. We send athletes to world-class surgeons and physical therapists -- is there a long-term harm from adding growth hormone or steroids to the treatment? I don't have any medical background. If there is a clear benefit to incorporating PEDs to injury treatment, is there a reason not to allow a limited exception to provide for this? Say, with clear proof of surgery, you will not be tested for a certain set timeframe if you've suffered certain injuries?
Is there a reason, other than taboo, that sports governing bodies do not consider this?
