Their recruiting class sucks. Their team sucked this year. But Harbaugh is a great coach and he likely will turn that program around quickly. Demographic trends don't favor the Big Ten, but Oregon, Boise State and others have shown that money and coaching can make up for a lot.

But the college game is tough.

Last year's class had 16 commits, now with a couple of transfers added in.

This year's class will be hard pressed to hit double digits.

That makes for a huge uphill climb.

Recruiting and players maturing/developing are such a huge part of the college game.

It will take some time to overcome having basically a lost class and a mediocre class preceding it.

thing is so overblown. There is a national market for talent. And if you "own" your local market, regardless of where you are (like OSU in Ohio) then you are in good shape.

I wasn't referring to a school like UM that can recruit from a national perspective I was referring to the smaller members of the big 10 that require most of their talent to be local.
