There's a Fight Brewing over LNG.

On Friday, Biden paused the approval process for for LNG exports to review the impact of natural gas on the environment. This only applies to new project, as existing projects are not impacted by the review.

This appears to be an election year move to satisfy the vocal environmentalist crowd, lead by Bill McKibben.

In response, Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana threatened to block every Dept of State and Energy nominee until the review is rescinded.

Outside of domestic politics, there is the issue of providing stable energy supplies to our allies in Europe. If we go green, will Europe fold and begin to buy Russian gas again? Is this really what we want?

There is also a scenario where countries go back to burning coal for energy, since that is all that they have.

All of this seems like bad policy. Am I missing something?
