shipping LNG from the Gulf Coast (where all the new terminals are being built) to US ports that intake LNG (like Boston). So by pausing terminals you are by definition limiting future shipments from the US to anywhere in the world (i.e. exports). We can and will max out on these facilities 100% which is why more are being planned and built.

The US is the lowest cost producer of Natural Gas in the world and the largest exporter of Natural Gas. Our technology advantage and infrastructure allows us to export everything we produce (in addition to satisfying US needs) thus allowing the rest of the world to better transition to green energy.

Progressives attack exporting natural gas by saying (1) bad for environment (2) it will raise prices in the US. Regarding the first, it is better than other forms of fossil fuels in terms of emissions and just as technology made is the biggest producer and exporter it is also allowing us to dramatically reduce and eliminate the methane-flaring issue. On the second, our price for natural gas has only gone down over time - we are low $2's or about lowest price in 30 years - because export volume drives efficiency and investment leading to further improvements and lower cost of production. It is one of the great stories of this century. And presence of plentiful, low cost natural gas driven energy in the US is one of the main drivers of the reshoring trend in manufacturing.

This is a horrible decision by the Biden Admin - bad for the US and bad for the world. It is as indefensible as absolutists in the GOP saying they won't vote for an immigration reform bill and then party leaders throwing them a bone and not putting it up even for a vote in the House where it would pass.
