After reading Hofstadter's The Paranoid Style In American Politics it really struck me how the MAGA movement fits the paranoid style to a T.

The enemy is omniscient and all powerful. We can defeat him but only have one chance and can broach no compromise. We are surrounded by hostile agents who are secretly members of the enemy. Back in the 50's they reconnect themselves into thinking Eisenhower was a commie.

These are not serious people.
