recommend Art Cullen's op-ed in today's NYT on how Trumpism has shattered civility and friendship in Storm Lake, Ia. Cullen, as you may know, edits the local newspaper and has written eloquently in the past about the landscape in rural Iowa (almost a tautology, I guess, though there is city life and the distinctive culture of the college towns, like beautiful Decorah, where I once lived and taught).
