State Representative Maddock failed to do his basic due diligence and deserves all of the mocking and scorn he receives.

But I take issue with one paragraph in the article, which is originally from Rolling Stone:

"Maddock's pointed question, which has apparently been viewed 4 million times on X (formerly Twitter), is of a piece with a far-right conspiracy theories about how the Biden administration is secretly flying thousands of migrants into the country. These unfounded claims have fueled belief in the so-called "Great Replacement" theory, which holds that the population of white Americans is being overwhelmed by non-white demographics with the help of Democrats and other nefarious actors. That racist ideology has inspired mass shootings and found proponents in the likes of Elon Musk and House Speaker Mike Johnson."

Although the Biden administration hasn't been secretly flying thousands of migrants INTO the country, they certainly have been secretly flying them around once they cross the border.

This is exactly what happened in our Westchester County, NY town of Port Chester in 2021. Migrants were flown from the border to Westchester County Airport in the middle of the night, taken to the empty parking lot of the local Costco at 3:AM, and released into the town. The Biden administration told neither the state or local governments. And it managed to piss of County Executive George Latimer, who himself is a Democrat and loyal Biden supporter. For weeks they were all over the streets drinking, and they set up a camp in the park where my kid's soccer team played and practiced. The local PD had to post cops in the park when kids recreation activities were happening.

So while Maddock committed a grossly irresponsible attribution error, it's not some "far right racist conspiracy theory" to think that the Biden Administration flies immigrants from the border and dumps them on unsuspecting communities. They did that, admitted it, and have been unapologetic about it.
