The CNN report (and vermin05's comments) take the same angle: settlers conducted an unprovoked attack on Palestinians in the West Bank. The IDF did nothing to stop them. "It's Israelis who shouldn't be there" and "murder does not justify burning and looting a village."

More detailed reporting shows there was a missing teenage boy for whom the settlers were looking. Did they find the body first or find out the child was dead, then go berserk? We don't know. I stated there are numerous examples of unjustified settler violence, but some have jumped to a conclusion.

I probably have to state for the record that I agree that murder does not justify burning and looting a village. Hopefully I don't need to explain that in an incredibly volatile situation, finding out a child is missing/murdered might lead to a riot.
