It wasn’t perfect by any means. But in terms of minimizing preventable deaths while minimizing the long-term impact to the economy, I think the best that we reasonably could. It was horrific, but it was a pandemic — some amount of horrifying death, economic impact, and psychological damage was going to be inevitable.

The WSJ editorial is characteristically tendentious nonsense.
