He grew up in a small, wealthy almost exclusively white New York hamlet to a wealthy family. He had nearly every advantage possible growing up, the only objective hardship he had to overcome was being a Jewish person, trying to gain admission to Harvard in the 80s.

His experience then, and now, was not what Martin Luther King was talking about.
