Height: 5'8 | Weight: 190 lbs. | Alumni Status: '05 BA, Political Science/Theology
Location: DC | Favorite Baseball Team: Cardinals
Natural Enemies: Cubs fans, Wolverines (especially those who don't know their own fight song)
Athletic Ability: | Essentially nil
Sartorial Style: | Just a little trad; I like the idea of "bringing back the hat." I hate all things acrylic.
Favorite Beverage and Consumption Freq: | Hard cider, bourbon, bocks and other dark lagers. Good Belgian ales are growing on me, as is Scottish ale (Dirty Bastard!). Also, lots of tea.
Political Philosophy: | Traditional conservative with an agrarian/communitarian bent. I disagree with 90% of what the Republicans say and 99% of what the Democrats do. I favor the state that best promotes the tradition of the virtues. I used to sometimes call myself a populist, pre-Trump.
Religious Philosophy: | Catholic. Basically in the "Communio" school of theology, big on the thought of JPII, Benedict, etc. I also like Latin. "Most people do not have to become a theologian in order to be a Christian, but I probably did." - Stanley Hauerwas
Musical Favorites: | Mostly country, especially the old stuff, with my favorites being Haggard and Cash. I also like some classic rock, especially the Eagles and The Band. I'm not a big fan of classical generally, but I do like chant, Josquin, Palestrina, and other sacred music. In contemporary stuff, I like Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Turnpike Troubadours, and the like.
Favorite Quote from an ND Coach: | "We're gonna win the damn game and get the damn game bawl." - Bob Davie, trying to get the ND band pumped up in 2001.
Miscellaneous Data: | Had four coaches in four years at Notre Dame, and it looks like Bob Davie was somehow the best one. Or maybe George O'Leary. I don't like piped-in music, JumboTrons, or FieldTurf. I also don't like the marching band dancing in the middle of a field show or the designated hitter. That said, I don't have a problem with an option-based spread. But you have to have a fullback. |
