Athletic Ability:
Member PGA of America since '63. Father and brother were also PGA professionals. Have given golf lessons to over 12,000 people and spent last 23 years of my career as Golf Director at a University. Uncanny, the harder my students practiced the better teacher I became. After a lifetime in the golf business I consider myself an expert on all things golf, which means I have 60 years worth of knowledge of nothing.
Sartorial Style:
LaCoste polo shirt, Lee jeans, tassel loafers, and either a soft toned sweater or sportcoat. In the golf shop or on the golf course I trade the jeans in for khakis. Shorts and footies are for the LPGA.
Favorite Beverage and Consumption Freq:
RC cola with a handful of peanuts in it. Alcohol, is the curse of the Irish so I only sneak a wee nip now and then.
Political Philosophy:
Independent, (not a lemming). Served my country in USMCR, pay taxes, vote. I dig 16 tons and what do I get, another day older and deeper in debt. Great country this America!
Religious Philosophy:
Cradle Catholic with special devotion to Our Lady of Consolation and St. Joseph the Worker. Miracles do happen. Thank you, JMJ.
Musical Favorites:
Traditional country ... Hank Sr., George, Tammy, Loretta, Patsy, Kitty, Merle, Johnny, Buck, Webb, Ernest, Hawkshaw, etc. (Saw the Possum no show twice.) Conway Twitty is all time favorite. If these people haven't sung it, it don't need to be sung. Alltime favorite song, and personal anthem is Tompall Glazer's "Drinkin' them beers, sheddin' them tears..."
Favorite Quote from an ND Coach:
Our first great coach, Fr. Ed Sorin, CSC once wrote ... "There are moments when a vigorous stand upsets the enemy!"
What else do you want us all to know:
"Never knowin' if believin' is a blessing or a curse, or the goin' up was worth the comin' down."
