Inside Lacrosse Analysis on What Hurt ND/What Helped Tigers

Terry Foy broke it down. This board, game analysts have pretty much nailed it but he adds his two cents on one and stats on the other:
- Attacking the Zone
IL/Foy:
"What they (the Irish) didn’t seem to have on Monday was both a consensus of how — who, and from where — they wanted to initiate and when — i.e. what tempo they wanted to play at. It makes sense that, early after the switch when they were protecting a three-goal lead and had so much success, they’d be reluctant to lean into a different approach. But as the lead evaporated and Croddick started to look more like himself, ND needed a more cohesive approach to when they wanted to initiate, with whom and from where.

"Now that it’s a trend, I suspect the staff will spend a lot of time this offseason devising a firmer approach, then spend next fall and early spring implementing it."

- Groundballs (stats)
IL/Foy:
"On a box score that has a lot of wild numbers (Princeton was plus-14 in shots on goal?!), the wildest number is the Tigers’ 46 groundballs to ND’s 30. The numbers are wilder than that, though. For the game, non-face-off groundballs were 30 to 16, and for the first half, they were 20 to 3!"
