ND Women's Lax Revamps Assc. Coaching Staff

- Lauren Banner comes from Loyola to coach defense
- Adam Sear comes from Michigan as offensive coordinator
Sear has been at Michigan five years and his coaching was evident this year in the two games against ND this year: the first, a regular season win at ND; and, the second during the NCAA tourney.

Long-time Halfpenny associate head coach Katie Powell is no longer with the program.

Assistant/Associate coaches do come and go with frequency, but it may not be coincidence that there has been action on both sides of the face off circle, given that ND barely made it into the NCAA's with a team many felt vastly underachieved.

There is superb attacking talent here -- Madison Ahern, Kasey Choma and Jackie Wolak, to name a few -- but it's got to be utilized better collectively before that super frosh class mentioned above goes out the door. Perhaps Halfpenny/Swarbrick recognized this. This season could/should have a lot of eyes on it.

She has three young sons, and being a coach and mom isn't easy. Especially when you're not making head coach money and your husband also works in the athletics department. The Powells jointly decided to leave college athletics and pursue a different life for their family.

coach. This upcoming season on the field and in recruiting is crucial for the future of the program. I still find it hard to believe that Northwestern and BC have surpassed ND and won national championships while ND still has only one Final Four appearance and that ended with a loss to Dartmouth in the Tracy Coyne era.

The new offensive coordinator is an Aussie so his accent could help recruiting...

what's hard to believe?

Halfpenny is bad coach, and her results have born this out. As an added bonus, she's not well-liked as a person.

She gets good recruits because she coaches at Notre Dame.

and consistently beat BC while both teams were in the Big East. Obviously both the Wildcats and the Eagles found better coaches and passed ND. I was expressing my long-term surprise that ND has never reached the same level as those two programs who have been able to achieve and sustain a much higher level of success.

...who had one year as offensive coordinator for the Irish. Candidly, the results were not earth-shattering last year and think a change needed to be made in approach. If you stopped the big three, it was generally going to be a "W" for the opponent. (Howe had a feast of famine year.)
