with my eldest sister and two SILs. We all agree today’s word is ridiculous. I got it in 4 thanks to one letter and my SIL’s comment that it was not a word. I thought “this can’t be it,” tried it, and got it.
But I sat there looking at the damn thing after attempt 4 for about 15 minutes trying to think of anything that could have the combination of consonants and vowels that this word had to have.
1) Really? It was *that*? (The only reason I got it is I had four letters already and I did not have any other placement options - I was not expecting it to be the answer)
2) I wonder if NDN is going to have a thread on this?
Until I got to the 5th. I instructed my family not to even attempt it today.
...I always start with SLATE, which gave me two letters. My second gave me a third letter; I then spent 15 minutes over breakfast racking my brain for how those three could go together considering the letters that my first two choices had excluded. When I entered my third attempt and got all green, I had to say--Aw shucks!
was a real word. I had 4 of the letters by the 3rd try and 2 in correct spots. Couldn’t figure it out. I googled the word after losing. I disagree that it’s a real word. Sorry, Mirriam-Webster.

It's weird what trips you up. There were a lot of "_____ rooms" today (six, I believe). I also didn't think the legal system terms were very cohesive.

...Valid words in the Bee include pitapat, ratatat, and gimme, among others that seem like slang, at best. But after doing hundreds of them you get to know the weird entries.

If you had asked me before this, I would have grouped it with other semi-accepted onomatopoetic words and would have spelled it with an apostrophe. Shows what I know.
