...(the Red Herring) where a guy from our old Chicago neighborhood was playing finger-picky stuff, Kottke, Fahey, etc. I had graduated from 8th grade with his sister. After his set I went up to say hello and to see if he remembered me at all. He and a friend and the friend's girlfriend then took me out into the wee hours hearing all sorts of strange music and drinking strange things. Back at the friend's apartment the guitar player handed my his Martin and asked if I wanted to play anything, so I did.

The friend, despite being sort of boozed up and stoned, exclaimed, "Jethro Tull--Bouree!" I just smiled. Here's what I actually played.

Call me a prole but when people talk about the classics, I assume they are referring to classic rock.
