“The tax, a 1.4 percent excise tax on net investment income at private colleges and universities with at least 500 tuition-paying students and assets of at least $500,000 per student, has generated intense pushback...The basic outlines of the guidance leave unchanged earlier expectations that about 25 to 30 large-endowment institutions would be affected by the endowment tax in the first year, said Daniel Romano, a partner at Grant Thornton who provides tax services for the nonprofit and higher education sectors.“ - Inside Higher Ed article from July 2019

Bob and Leslie Mohr of Dallas have made a $3 million gift to the University of Notre Dame to endow the Fighting Irish football team’s quarterback coaching position.

“I can’t thank Bob and Leslie enough for their extraordinary investment in our football program and the University,” said University Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick. “Our coaches are first and foremost educators and so it is especially fitting that the teaching position this gift endows is currently held by a Notre Dame graduate who has returned to his alma mater to help educate future generations of talented quarterbacks and leaders. We appreciate the Mohr’s trust and look forward to advancing our mission thanks to their generosity.”
