Any recs for Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor?

Any recs for Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor?

We are planning a trip with 2 other families (kids aged 8-15) next summer to Acadia and looking for any recommendations about where to stay (we will be renting a house), things to do etc. There are a lot of options on the various sites, but are not sure about how far out is reasonable or what locations would work. I don't think we want something right in town.

We are going in early June (rolling the dice on the weather). We are not normally super outdoorsy, but do want to see the sights, and do some activities.

If anyone is familiar with the area, I would much appreciate any planning advice.
