in their lobby. It's f-ing amazing. Sure, you'd have to pay for drinks, but you'd be paying for drinks inside the Eero Saarinen terminal or aboard a classic Lockheed Constellation. It is accessed from Terminal 5 (JetBlue.)
It's an extraordinary piece of architecture that anyone coming through JFK should make a point of walking through.
The restaurant in the TWA Terminal is pretty good as well, and the balconies have some fun exhibits about the history of air travel that are worth checking out.
And no, you usualyl can't go to lounges in terminals you don't have a boarding pass for. All air-side terminal to terminal transpo is essentially nil, save the bus from T2 to T4 since Delta owns both.
I am going to be arriving at JFK with a couple of hours to kill before I can check in, so I might just do that. Thank you for the idea!
If you're arriving by car you can get dropped off directly to the hotel; the motorcourt usually has a number of classic 1960s vehicles parked out front.
If you are taking the AirTrain, go to the JetBlue Terminal 5 and look for the signs. You take a quick elevator ride then take the skybridge across. (This is how you will get to Terminal 8 for your flight.)
It sounds like you might be trying to use Priority Pass. If so, I believe the T4 lounge is pre-security.
But you're correct, I am trying to use PriorityPass.
I don't care about having to pass through security 2x. My concern is going through the hassle of taking the AirTrain from Terminal 8 to another Terminal, only to be denied access at the TSA checkpoint at that terminal.
just not explicitly. As long as you have a valid boarding pass, you can pass through any TSA check, whether it's your terminal or not. That seems to me what both of them are saying, and that was my understanding as well.
As long as you have a valid ticket, it doesn't matter which terminal you're flying out of. I've done the same thing when I've had long layovers.
The problem may be, though, if you're flying on an airline that isn't the lounge's airline and not in their "alliance" (Star, oneworld, SkyTeam) on at least one leg of your trip, the lounge may not let you in. In fact, it's likely they won't.
is that the terminals are not connected to each other post-security. In some airports, I have been able to clear security in a terminal when they are connected and it is possible to get to my flight from that entry point post-security. In this case, however, there is no way to get to my flight, for example, from Terminal 1 without having to exit security, so I'm not sure how that will be treated.
Have you had that experience where the terminals were not connected?
Who knows though - the three NYC area airports seem to have their own rules sometimes.
boarding pass. I've frequently gone through security at a different terminal than I'm flying from. Granted, they are usually connected, but I don't see why it would be an issue.
want to lounge in. Get in, then cancel it.
after having been issued a boarding pass? You need the boarding pass to clear TSA.
