It didn't matter what he did off the pitch, he was the national hero of Argentina for that 1986 World Cup win.

I have to say there are not many people who performed better with the weight of an entire country on their shoulders like he did in that tournament.

And the hero of Naples as well

The story of the 1990 World Cup is even better than the 1986 World Cup.

I've seen him ranked as the greatest ever.

I didn't see him play enough to know.

I did not see Pele play

But I can say that Diego is the most talented player I have seen with a ball at his feet. Insatiable desire and courage on the field. I would urge everyone to see the documentary “Maradona” on HBO if you get the chance.

He’s my #2

Behind Leo.

His goal of the century is still the best I have ever seen.

If Messi could do as much coke as Diego...

vs Romania, round of 16. Hagi vs Maradona. But then Maradona was banned from the tournament for stimulants 3 days before. Fitting, I guess. Still a great game, Romania 3-2.

May he rest in the Hand of God. *

It turns out inhaling mountains of cocaine and being 60 pounds overweight takes a toll on the human heart.

Impressed he made it that long *
