Advice needed on apartment sublet

B22 has an internship in Denver this summer (we live in Illinois) and his original plan to move in with a friend who attends college there has fallen through, so he's now looking at sublets on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. He's found a few places that look interesting, but we want to make sure they're legit and he doesn't end up sending money to someone in Nigeria. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
