How many rods in one mile?

Over Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house we somehow got into units of measure and the odd units that the Gen X parents at the table had to memorize in the 70s and 80s vs the 5 high school students at the table.

I brought up rods. I remember converting rods to miles. And hectares (I think) to acres and/or square miles?

The high school kids had no idea what a rod was.
