Where Was Mike Rooney?

Mike Rooney was not in the press box in Omaha for the first two days of the CWS - per his own Twitter account. Seems strange to me for a guy who spends 3 straight months covering the sport. Could he have been back in South Bend interviewing??

He was in the field doing sideline duties the first two days. His voice was really bad (laryngitis or something of the like). Maybe he took Monday off for that reason.

How did Rooney become a candidate for ND? Obvious connection, having played and coached here previously, but he’s been out of coaching for 10 or 12 years and has only been a head coach at a smaller school.

Is he actually a candidate? I think people are just trying to speculate and since they didn't see him in the booth during CWS they just assumed he was in SB interviewing. I have not seen a single thing indicating he's a candidate, besides people saying on here that he should be.
