Mid-Atlantic Sales Representative

Company Overview:

Description and Responsibilities:
The sales representative at S.S. Steiner, Inc. will have primary sales responsibility for craft breweries (nano, brewpub, micro, regional) in the Mid-Atlantic region with possible adjoining states (TBD).

Position will be responsible for developing tactics and strategies to increase market share in assigned territory to include preparing & executing approved plans. Position may also be responsible for certain non-brewing customers which use hops in their products (fuel-ethanol production, wineries, etc.). Achieves maximum sales, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s products.

Responsibilities:
- Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
- Develops clear and effective written contract change proposals for existing customers.
- Demonstrates products and services to existing/potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
- Meet individual and team sales targets
- Generates sales using various sales methods, telephone calls and in-person visits to existing and prospective customers (i.e. brewery visits, brewing events, brewing trials, presentations, exhibits, etc.)
- Maintains and expands customer accounts within assigned territory and secures new business accounts/customers.
- Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential for sales and build productive long lasting relationships
- Supplies management with oral and written trip reports on customer visits, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
- Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.



- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, contract terms, marketing techniques, personnel changes, etc.
- Maintains, reviews, and monitors customer contracts.
- Travel requirements estimated 50% - 80% (ground & air)

- Participates in brewing industry trade shows, conventions, and organizations (i.e. MBAA, CBC, Brewers Guild, etc.)
- Attend hop selection the month of September in Yakima, WA

Qualifications:
• 1+ year experience in sales. Food and/or beverage industry, specifically brewing experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, ideally in business administration/marketing or a Brewing Diploma.
• Valid Driver’s license
• Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Ability to travel extensively within sales territory
• Must be organized and be comfortable working remotely from a home-office and while on the road.
• Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers (consultative sales approach).
• Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Compensation and benefits: Annual salary will be based on experience. A company vehicle, phone and computer will be provided. After a probationary period, employee will be able to participate in company’s Safe Harbor 401(k) Retirement Plan as well as medical, dental and group term life insurance. Vacation time will be 2 weeks.
