We are a growing boutique law firm devoted to litigating complex business disputes and representing clients facing high-profile reputational attacks. We have a national practice with an international client base, and our attorneys represent clients in a wide range of civil litigation and defamation matters in state and federal courts across the nation. If the story is in the news, or likely to be in the news, we are very likely involved.

The Executive Director will be a strategic thought-partner and report directly to firm ownership. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager, leading and expanding all aspects of Clare Locke LLP’s business operations, including finance, billing and accounting, human resources and employee benefits, administration, marketing, facilities management, and IT.

This position will actively participate in day-to-day operations and administration of the office, manage all strategic and administrative operations, and execute firm initiatives. The Executive Director must be a self-starter and communicate proactively with the partners to ensure the administrative services and resources are meeting their expectations and the clients’ needs, as well as seek input from staff to encourage open communication.

Responsibilities include space planning, management of facilities, and oversight of essential office services. The Executive Director handles human resources issues and provides counsel to administrative staff and lawyers on best practices. Financial responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, billing, time entry compliance and collections.

We seek candidates who are smart, fun, hard-working, offer no excuses and no drama, and, most importantly, we want applicants who are excited about Clare Locke LLP’s mission and who want to be an integral part of our substantial growth. Our firm provides Big-Law level service and work product for our clients, and applicants should not only have references and recommendations that are commensurate with our high expectations for client service, but also to ensure the right fit with our close-knit firm.

The successful candidate will have a B.A., with an advanced degree or at least 7-10 years of overall relevant professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial, operations management and/or human resources experience. Law firm experience is essential. The successful candidate will also be technology savvy with knowledge of accounting, invoicing and billing software. Knowledge of case management and discovery software and platforms is preferred. We seek a self-starter with excellent communication and relationship building skills, and an ability to prioritize and negotiate. Personal qualities of credibility, loyalty, client service and a can-do-no-drama attitude are a must.

You will be joining a growing firm, and as such, the successful candidate will have input into the structure of the administrative department. Note, however, this is still a small office and support staff is minimal. Candidates should be prepared to be a hands-on administrator with day-to-day bookkeeping skills and a willingness to roll-up his/her sleeves. Our current Firm Administrator is retiring, and we are planning for a transition period with our new Director
