It will be crowded but the food is good as brunch buffets go. Agree with your other thoughts. By the time you walk from the parade to the stadium and take pictures you still have ample time to enjoy the activities behind the bleachers on the reservoir side. Lots of tents selling beer and food. Cadets show up there and walk constantly through that area prior to the game. It is definitely a great way to spend an October afternoon.
