Note for olson on Bud Grant.

Our local paper continues running stories on who they voted as the 10 best HS athletes in Wisconsin history (you may recall they started out with Alan Ameche). This past weekend, they ran a story on Bud Grant - yes, they voted him as one of the 10 best of all-time (I had forgotten he went to high school in Superior). One forgets he won an NBA title with the 1950 Lakers.

The only reason I bring this up is the one sentence of note from the worthwhile piece:

After high school, Grant enlisted in the Navy and played on the Great Lakes football team coached by Paul Brown that beat nationally ranked Notre Dame. When he returned to school at the University of Minnesota, he was a star in three sports, earning nine letters in football, basketball and baseball.
