However, I think it's fair to point out that at least the Cubs have taken some very positive steps over the past few years. I aim to be clear here: No, fellow Chisox fans and Cubs detractors in general, by no means do these moves guarantee greatness. However, any observer must note that they have made a serious attempt to get the right people in charge of personnel, including arguably the game's best manager. They also just signed one of the game's top pitchers. Again, nothing here precludes them falling apart like they did in '04 and '08. But, at a minimum, I think everyone has to acknowledge that they've taken some very positive first steps.
