Julian Love 1st team All-American- FWAA
by Hanratty5ND (2018-12-10 18:22:13)

Sam Mustipher was 2nd team.

This is the 3rd major of the Big 5.

Love is 3/3 on 1st team selections. He was also 1st team AA on ESPN's--but they aren't one of the top 5 that has an impact on consensus/unanimous All- American.

The last one is AFCA--if he gets that, he's a unanimous first-team All-American.

Interesting that his teammates can be 1st team on one list

and not even honorable mention on others. I've seen Tillery, Mustipher, Mack, Coney and Dexter Williams get mentions. Only name missing that surprises me is Gilman. You'd think someone would recognize his play-making.

Someone did. I don't remember which one, but think he was

first team AA on pro football focus or one of the others. He absolutely was selected on one of the ones announced and reported by BGI in the last two weeks.

Congrats to Julian on the consensus 1st team AA

Quite an accomplishment. Hopefully unanimous will be following shortly.

I don't think that's possible. He's already not 1st team on

at least one. Thus, he can't be unanimous AA. What he can be is consensus AA where I think you need to be 1st team on about 3 of 5 main services.

Love has been 1st team on all 3 thus far

Walter Camp--December 6
AP-December 10
FWAA-December 10

SN(Sporting News) +
AFCA(American football coaches association) still to come.

He still has a chance to be a unanimous AA.

Ok if those are the 5 that matter. He's not 1st team on 2

others.

He made ESPN and SI's 1st team as well....

so I'm curious as to what 2 he didn't make?

Yes--the 5 I listed are the only ones that matter as far as making consensus or unanimous.

Pro football focus was one. 3rd team

I found the pro football focus one. Love is honorable mention (3rd team) with them.

Still looking through archives for the other one. Obviously, it doesn't matter since those aren't the "big 5".

Was Bobby Taylor only consensus?

In my opinion, Todd Lyght and Bobby Taylor were the two best CBs in the Holtz era.

i would put Shawn Wooden in that group as well *
