That shows whether or not he actually caught the ball?
I have never seen a photo of the catch. I am not aware whether a close up even exists. I have only seen the TV angle.
But, I have never heard there being any challenge to it. There were two officials, one behind Haines in the endzone, and one in front of him at the 5. The one behind him made no signal, but the one at the 5 threw his hands up immediately seeming to show a pretty high degree of confidence Haines caught the ball. I don't recall there being any argument on the field by Houston.
that was blocked by players/fans. I'd love to see an endzone view.
We had our last bout of Cotton Bowl weather at the 1993 Cotton Bowl. I remember driving through the iced-over Metroplex to one of park-n-ride spots in southwest Dallas. The bus took us the rest of the way. ND blasted A&M that day, 28-3.
25 years. Lord, have mercy.
What a long strange trip it has been.
Beating LSU last year was nice, but I don’t think anyone would characterize the Citrus Bowl as a top tier bowl game.
The worst part was they turned on the lights and not long after the lights were melting the ice and raining down on us. Also, there may have been 20 of us in the upper deck. Thankfully we found seats down below for the second half.
From the piece:
With Lisch, they'd have said it wasn't a "redshirt," but rather deferring a year of eligibility to the 5th year of a 5-year program. That's different than stretching a 4-year program over 5 years for the primary purpose of staggering eligible players.
Like Rusty, Kevin entered ND in 1975 and majored in architecture. He was the third team tight end in 79.
Randy Harrison was injured in his 4th year and received a medical redshirt. Before his injury, he played enough minutes to earn a monogram. As a result, he is one of the few to earn 5 monograms in one sport.
If they had, they would have missed the National Championship. We were in the same section in Morrissey (4th floor chapel wing) our junior year. There didn't seem to be an issue with football players who majored in architecture not going to Rome then.
