NCAA should allow teams to do “spring practice” in May-June.

Or June-July. The players are on campus almost all summer anyway for classes and “voluntary” workouts.

I don’t know what to do about teams like Clemson who had 5+ practices in before the shutdown. Impossible to make a perfectly level playing field.

I think the players really look forward to the Spring Game. It’s goofy, it’s loose, they get to run out of the tunnel, minimal tackling. And I’m sure that, after months of zero sports anywhere, fans will come to watch. Delightful South Bend mid-summer weather notwithstanding.

Recruiting visits can happen during that time as well.

Skipping the spring cycle altogether would be such a huge loss for teams’ and players’ development.

This might go on for several months. Fall season in jeopardy

We are in uncharted waters. College football might be the very least of our concerns these next few months

H1N1 in US: 60 million infected, 273k hospital, 12k died

We are not even remotely close to uncharted territory. What’s new is the irrational panic this time around. We didn’t even begin to act in 2009 until after the first 1000 people were already dead in the US.

This virus is following the exact same flow as previous ones. Death rate is dropping, they already are using new treatments based on antibodies of people that beat it, etc.

This is serious - but the reaction to it has been dramatically overblown compared to the 2009 pandemic that killed orders of magnitude more people 20% of US was infected.

The US acted within a week of H1N1 being discovered. *
