I'm a little surprised at the board attitude tonight ...

Seems like most folks are of the thinking that shit happens and that's the way the puck goes sometimes.

Make no mistake: this was a lost opportunity of epic proportions. We played incredibly poorly against a very young team that we should have handled. This was not playing a powerhouse Denver team. This was a UMD team that was marginally over .500 in the regular season, and was the last team to get into the tournament. 5 of their defenseman in their 6-deep were true freshmen.

Our line changes throughout the entire game were head-scratching, the 2 goals given up were incredibly soft, and the offensive scheming, especially, in the 3rd period, was, well, awful. We managed 5 shots in the most important period of hockey in the history of the program (and really only 1 of those shots had a prayer of a chance of going in), and that was with being down 2-1 with our backs against the wall and nothing to lose.

I appreciate that this was a fun and good year, but this game was a complete shit show that shouldn't have happened.

In college hockey, you just don't crank out Frozen Fours one after another and expect to get another chance next year. Even with a solid program, we may not see a championship game, let alone another Frozen Four, for 10+ years. To let this one get away with the performance that we threw out there tonight is a shame.
