Outdoor Game

The 1/5 game was held back from single game sales yesterday, which leads me to believe that the game at the stadium is still on. Darin Pritchett told me on Twitter that the NHL controls the announcement of all events surrounding the Winter Classic, so the mystery is thanks to Gary Bettman.

How does a 1/5 game "surround" the Winter Classic on 1/1?

By the 5th, the Blackhawks will be in the middle of a two-game Eastern road swing, and the Bruins will be on a four-game homestand.

I think it more has to do with the equipment

The NHL is in charge of building and maintaining the rink for the Winter Classic. As such, it's up to them if they want to keep it up (and their outdoor crew in town) an extra few days. I was actually surprised when the schedule came out that the Michigan game wasn't scheduled closer to 1/1.

I thought maybe the BC game could be moved to the Stadium, but nothing has indicated that's the case.

Meanwhile got my tickets to the MSU series 1/25-26 *
