“I think what it came down to was Michigan thought I was going to go there regardless,” Cole said. “They showed interest really but never actually offered me a scholarship. I ended up traveling around and going to talk to schools as a sophomore in high school, getting scholarship offers and Michigan still hadn’t offered me one.

“So yeah, I think it was one of those things they wanted me to go there and not have to give me a scholarship because I was from Ann Arbor.”
