Observations from a very casual hockey fan
by MADIRISH (2019-03-29 22:18:42)

My wife keeps saying how boring hockey is. I actually found that game very stressful and stood the whole time. A goal can be scored or given up in a blink of an eye. Awesome game!

Elimination overtime is the most stressful thing in sports.

Hockey is the only sport where you know 100% that the game is going to end in a split second.

- Football allows for two possessions in some cases (all cases in college)

- Basketball is a timed period.

- Baseball allows both teams a chance to bat

- Soccer, in most cases, is not sudden death.

All of these sports have the POSSIBILITY of a sudden ending, but only hockey offers the GUARANTEE of it, which is amazing for a neutral and terrifying when you have a rooting interest in the outcome.

Lax also has sudden victory. ND lost to Duke in OT in the NC

CJ Costabile ... sigh.

NCAA tournament OT has been pretty good to ND.

I can remember wins over AL-Huntsville (granted, it killed us in the next game), Michigan in the national semifinals, and now Clarkson. And didn't we win one of the regional games last year in OT? Providence maybe?

two years ago - NE Regional vs UML - Oglevie from Bjork *

Won 3-2 in OT in Cincinnati.

Noted. 5 - 1 is still a good record, though. *

Providence was round 2 in regulation. Though I believe we beat them in OT in the Hockey East semis or finals our last season in HE.

Right, PC was a regulation win on a last-minute goal. *
