In '03-'04

he was hired to coach a roster that included Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Rob Blake, Milan Hejduk, Alex Tanguay and Adam Foote. He proceeded to snap the Avs' North American Major League sports record of 9 straight division championships and couldn't get out of the second round of the playoffs against a recent expansion team.

That's five Hall of Famers for those keeping track at home, mostly still in their prime. And although a lot of those guys had injury problems during the season the team was basically healthy and all those guys were ready to go for the playoffs. It was the first year without Roy but David Aebischer played very well with a .924 SV% and 2.09 GAA. He is a shit awful hockey coach and has always looked like he's as dumb as a post. The Avs fired him after one season and hired Quenneville then fired Quenneville and brought him back for one more shitty season after being Q's assistant for 3 years.
