Boy that sure sucked.

But we weren't the only team that failed to show up for a series.

Minnesota continued to show that the problem really wasn't Don Lucia by way of losing twice at home to North Dakota. The first night they accomplished that in embarrassing fashion as they gave up 9 goals. Minnesota State went on the road to Duluth and never trailed, sweeping the 2-time defending champions. On Friday MSU built a 4-0 lead before eventually winning 4-1.

Michigan State, fresh off a weekend that saw them take 4 of 6 points from us dropped both games of a weekend series to OSU, a team we swept.

Harvard, looking to continue their season opening winning streak, built a 2-0 lead over Boston College with goals in the first period and at the 17:15 mark of period number 2. But before the Crimson could make it to the locker room for the second intermission, BC not only scored, but scored 3 times to take a 3-2 lead into the final period. They won the game, played on Harvard's home rink, 4-2, ending Harvard's 6 game winning streak to open the season.

Michigan continued their gloriously awful start, losing on Saturday to Wisconsin to fall to 0-6-1 in the Big Ten. Unfortunately they won't finish the conference slate without a win as they finally got off the schneid on Sunday, winning 3-1.

Denver and Minnesota Duluth were the darlings before the season started. UMD has been up and down all season and currently sits one game over .500 (7-6-1). DU started out 8-0-0, but is just 1-3-2 since then. Right now Minnesota State and North Dakota clearly look like 1 and 1A, with a still undefeated Cornell (9-0-0) right behind them.

I wouldn't get particularly worried about Notre Dame's recent struggles. The PP seems to have found some life and our scoring is (was) balanced enough that you won't keep everyone down for the rest of the season. My biggest concern is with Morris. He does not seem to have worked out any of his difficulties. Is there still a nagging injury? Is there something mechanical that has not yet been realized by the coaching staff? You absolutely will not succeed, either in the regular season and especially in the playoffs with ordinary or mediocre goaltending. Right now that is what we're seeing. Our RPI took a pretty severe beating over the weekend, but that can certainly be turned in the right direction with games against BC, PSU and WMU, all in the top-15 of the RPI.

The regular season has proven to be unable to predict anything that might happen in March and April. This Irish team is good enough to amass enough wins over the final 20-22 games we are guaranteed to play to be in a good position come March 27th. Just make the tournaments. Anything can happen then.

Awful start to our CCHA regular season *

and with such confidence against OSU. I, like you, have to wonder if whatever ailed him at the start of the season has resurrected itself.
