2018 Hobey finalist Cornell Goalie Matthew Galajda is Irish

So that solves the issue at goaltender. He was a Richter finalist in his most recent season (2020), as the Ivies sat out 2021.

Is this why St. Cyr is transferring? *

Not sure we’ll ever know the order in which they occurred

considering the timing of ND’s and QU’s announcements, both are very possible

You're right that we probably won't find out the full story.

But Ivy league doesn't typically allow grad student-athletes (although it sounds like in Feb they announced a Covid exemption). So Galajda knew long ago he needed to find a new team for a 5th season. He entered the transfer portal back around 11/19/20. It's hard to imagine he waited for contact with ND (and other interested teams) until recently. I suspect this transfer has been in the works for a while now behind the scenes.

Sounds like St Cyr headed to Quinnipiac (link)

what's the word on the St Cyr departure?

just seems odd because he waited his turn and, to the outsider, it would appear he would've been #1 next year? I can imagine a few scenarios of why he transferred but wondered if anyone knew. Or was it mutual?

Probably didn't like that he was asked to take a redshirt

season a year ago and then was slated to share the net with Bishel this season. He only got the lions share of games when Bishel was hurt.

I don't know anything about this Matthew Galajda but his numbers sure seem solid. I guess the transfer portal giveth and the transfer portal taketh away.

He will also be 24 years old when the puck drops for next season.
