Mel Pearson ‘lied repeatedly’ in Michigan hockey

be toast. Being this is UM, I wouldn't bet on it. Even with the board of regents and the interim president allegedly lined up against Pearson, the AD still hasn't pulled the trigger. Instead he is rumored to have lobbied to sign Pearson to an extension earlier in the week, despite the fact UM has been in possession of the official report that they sought for quite some time now.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they keep him.

It reeks of PR theater to excuse delaying the decision

UM had the report in May. Formally dismissing Pearson then would've probably lead to decommits (which their roster this year can't afford).

Pearson hasn't been working under an official contract since 4/30. UM knew they weren't going to give him another one.

It'd be program suicide to keep him based off how he handled Strauss Mann and the unhappy upperclassmen. It might not effect the 1st/2nd rounders they recruit as much, but every team needs undrafted recruits to fill out rosters/lines. And the negative recruiting he'd face would make it near impossible for Pearson to fill out a decent team with depth players.

Rumors popped up in May/June that Brian Wiseman would replace Pearson, but an annoucement would wait until the Oilers got knocked out of the playoffs.

Wiseman left the Oilers in late June...but supposedly took a job with NYI in early July.

But on 6/28 it came out that Wiseman wasn't going to take the NYI job (without any explanation of where he would coach next season).

The report finally got sent to reporters and published to the public on 8/2. Which is conveniently too late for potential decommits to find another place to play next season. And is the day after Juniors can start committing to programs (which allowed UM to avoid unopposed negative recruiting over the summer),

And now it's reported that the AD is in agreement with the Regents and Pres. The decision will be announced tomorrow (Friday). LOL.

Michigan man right there for sure. *
