helpful messages below, but wanted to say I'm sorry for you, for your friend, for their family and friends, and I'm thinking of all of you.

I have no directly analogous experience, but friends of ours had their 13 year old daughter murdered while walking around their leafy suburban neighborhood back in 2021. I just try to listen to whatever they have to say, whenever they feel the need to say it. Some days are better than others, but they are changed people, and always will be.
