I, too, met Lou at a corporate event, circa 2003

Our head of sales was Jim something-or-other, and he’s a USC grad. It was his group’s event. Not sure why he invited Lou, other than being sure Lou would knock it out of the park.

Anyway, as master of ceremonies, Jim did a nice job introducing Lou from the dais. As it was Lou’s turn to move to the dais to speak, Jim had the speaker system play “Fight On”.

No hesitation whatsoever, Lou put his hand on Jim’s shoulder and said, “Jim, you have no idea how confident that song makes me feel!”

I was fortunate to spend five or ten minutes speaking with Lou later in the event. Echoing all the other commentary in this thread, he was like a friend for life in that conversation.
