in Miami Beach in 1996 prior to the Orange Bowl.
In 1999 while at South Carolina he was recruiting Matthew Thomas. We picked him up at our municipal airport and went to Matt’s house. He was such a delight. I took Matthew to a couple of his visits to Carolina. Of course Coach Holtz knew I was a fan. I did my part on the recruitment of Matt. He signed and played 4 years starting all 4 years for him. I was always on the sideline at Carolina games. He’s the most notable person I’ve ever met and I’ve met a few honestly.
