like he was the most important person in the universe.

My uncle an ND grad in the '50's was close to Skip Holtz when he was a student at Holy Cross Junior College prior to his transferring to ND. Skip used to live at my uncle's house while at HC Junior College prior to going to ND. My uncle has always been close to ND's higher ups, and was highly involved in the discussions between Lou and ND his last year at Minnesota. I still remember at my uncles funeral at the Basilica, Skip Holtz showed up to give his respect at my uncle's funeral.

I remember my dad telling me that he went back for a game at ND from Boston and he went to a ND reception after the game. My uncle introduced my dad to Lou. Lou spent the next 20 minutes treating my dad as if he was the most important man in the universe. My dad said he felt uncomfortable in that Lou spend so much time monopolizing his time. Then my dad was introduced to ND's AD - and the AD spent all of his time looking over my dad's shoulder to see if there was someone more important that he could be talking with.

Lou was genuine. He is the person that we wish we could all be.

God Bless you coach!
