A very good road win for the Dallas Dynamic Duo

A bit of a homecoming game for Marina, who is playing very well. Arike did not shoot at a high percentage, but had a strong scoring night.

Marina and Arike are 1 and 3 in the WNBA in scoring per min

and one of them has led Dallas in scoring in all 7 games (MM 4, AO 3). Since Marina started their 2nd game they are 5-1 and only Jackie and the Aces have a better record over that time in the WNBA.

BTW Jackie is 7th in scoring per minute but she now leads the league in scoring per game while Arike is #2 and Marina is only #11 despite leading the league in scoring per minute because she plays only 24 minutes a game.

You sure Marina's going to consider Uncasville close to Manasquan? :-)

I'll be very interested in what the Wings do with Marina (extend her rookie contract or no). If she keeps playing the way she is, it's a no brainer, but they've extended a bunch of folks already.

She could very well end up somewhere else and I'm thinking the Liberty could use a dependable off-guard to take the load off Sabrina. This would be a nightmare for Arike, but NYC is really close to home for Mabrey.

Ha! And you are correct, NYC would be a true homecoming. CT is the northeast, so the family can certainly travel to see her and probably did. DC is likely a nice trip to see her play too.
Have to love the Northeast population areas!

...it's a short drive from Connecticut College in New London, where my eldest daughter did her undergraduate stint.

I'm sure the Mabrey's were there (including Dara, off on break) and can enjoy the one-day break checking out restaurants in Mystic or Stonington. Then back to the casino for game 2, tomorrow.

The Wings should be loose, considering they're already got one away win down.

Is the 2 games vs the same team a travel/$ save?

Is the league doing this schedule setup with other teams as well?

For sure. Liberty and Storm are playing in Seattle both Fri

and Sunday. I'm sure it's also for health/Covid concerns. Less travel, easier to control especially since they've banned private planes. Liberty was fined 500k for chartering flights.

Bit of a Summary from the Wings-Sun Game

Dallas wins 85-77, outscoring the Sun 27-18 in the 4th quarter.

Marina continues her torrid shooting, scoring 20 on 6-10 from the field (3-6 from three-pt. land) and 5-6 from the FT line. Arike found her in the corner off a fast break for a three that pretty much sent the Wings on their way. She also had a sweet step-back three earlier in the game.
Mabrey also had 4 assists to lead the Wings.

Since releasing Moriah Jefferson (now with Minnesota Lynx), Wings have kind of taken a page out of the 17-18-19 Irish and approached the lead guard by committee, with Marina, Arike, Tyasha Harris and rookie Veronia Burton all taking turns at the point.

Wings have a two-game stand at Connecticut: play again there tomorrow. Getting a split on the road at a tough environment was a plus.
