USA up 35-10 after 1st quarter. Jordan Lee has 7 and Kayleigh Heckel. Sarah Strong enters game and in three minutes nails two three-pointers and blocks a shot.
Missed a bunny that rolled out. Primarily was playing a high-post role and moved the ball around the arc. Kayleigh Heckel, the point guard from Kate Koval's LuHi team, and Sienna Betts both had double figures in first half.
Expected a bit more from Brazil, to be honest, given how their older teams have done.
Leah Macy got back in the fourth quarter, but after Madison Francis -- who didn't play in the 1st half -- got in before her. Clearly the ND commit (Macy) and prospect (Francis) are not in Teri Moren's rotation, which -- true to form -- is pretty tight (as it is in Indiana).
Well, let's see what the next game brings and this experience is often more about the practices and, in this case, getting player and future coach together.
better when Hannah was getting her the ball last summer. Besides Edwards, Strong and Heckel caught my eye. Strong is a strong rebounder and has a nice-looking shot from 3. Heckel seems to be the team's best point guard. Robertson also had some good minutes.
I felt Leah Macy was rushing her game a bit. Let's see how she does as the tourney progresses. Leah, however, is a year behind Strong and Edwards, et al.
Rushed? Unsure? Trying to feel her way with all these other All-Stars?
Like you said, she's on the junior side of this squad. Luckily, she'll get chances in the other prelim games and, once again, so good to be with her future college coach.
Needs to find her groove and game with all the other stars.
